How to get to Torino from the Torino Caselle International Airport
Go to CONSORZIO TURISMO TORINO in the airport to purchase a round trip ticket with the GTT train/bus to Torino (it should cost 3.70€ one way. See the schedule here). As you leave the ground level of the Airport you will head through the parking garage. At the other end of the parking garage is the train station. Validate your ticket in the orange/yellow ticket validator and take the train in the direction of Torino. Get off at the last stop: Dora Train Station. Walk out of the station just outside is the bus stop (if you have questions ask at the ticket counter). Take the bus “Dora Fly” to the Porta Susa train station. NOTE: you should not have to buy an additional bus ticket for this bus shuttle ride. How to get to Torino from the Milano Malpensa Airport
The best way to travel to Torino from Malpensa Airport is by bus. Buy a ticket (get a round trip ticket if you intend to return to the Airport after your adventure) at the Malpensa Bus Express inside the airport and take the SADEM bus (see details). Ask the driver to get off at Torino Porta Susa, which is one of the main train terminals in Torino. From there, you can buy bus tickets in any “Tabaccheria” store (look for a sign with white ‘T’ with black or blue background) or Newspaper stand. (Follow the instructions of your hotel or adventure directions about which busses to take).
How to get the reBOOT adventure from Milano Malpensa Airport?
For public transportation, go to the train ticket counter in the airport. If you intend to return to the airport after the adventure, buy a roundtrip ticket. You will need to take four different trains to get to Aosta and it should take between four and five hours. (Do not take the Freccia Rossa Train as is costs three times as much and doesn’t save you much time.) Make sure you validate your ticket before you get on the first train at a yellow/orange ticket validator in the train station. In addition, when you are getting close to Aosta, make sure you ask aboard the train where your next train stop is and be ready to exit the train before it comes to a stop in Aosta.
To arrive at the the reBOOT site from the Aosta train station by bus, exit the train in Aosta and go to the Aosta bus station which is across the street from the train station. Buy a round trip ticket to Eau Rousse for SAVDA buses (see precise bus schedules to Valsavarenche). They leave from Aosta train station daily for Valsavarenche at 7:45 (8:45 on Sundays), 10:45, 13:35 (14:35 on Sundays), or 16:45. The trip takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes and you need to transfer buses in Villeneuve. They will take you directly to the campground. You MUST ask to get off at the gate for Camping Gran Paradiso. Follow the signs to our campsite.
To arrive to the reBOOT site by car (approximately 2’30”), exit the airport and follow the blue sign for Novara/Torino-Milano SS336 (20 km). At the junction with A4 (Toll Road), exit and take A4 towards Torino (59 km). At the town of Santhià, exit and merge onto A4/A5/E25 toward Ivrea/Aosta (25 km). Keep right at the fork, follow signs for A5/E25/Aosta/Monte Bianco and merge onto A5/E25. Continue on A5 (75 km) and exit at the Aosta Ovest highway exit. Head towards Monte Bianco, after about three kilometers you arrive in Villeneuve make sure to look for the ramp right (do not go straight through a tunnel) and then follow the signs for Valsavarenche (through the town of Introd and up). Continue up the valley for twenty kilometers. Camping Gran Paradiso is on the left! Follow the signs to our campsite. How to get to Il Rifugio (packing station site)?
From Porta Susa train station, buy a bus ticket at any Tobacco store (white ‘T’ with black or blue background) or Newspaper stand. Find the tram stop for the #13 tram (black sign i with a yellow 13 inside that goes toward city center–‘Rossini” stop is located above the current stop) and signal (hold out your arm) for the 13 tram. Get on and validate your ticket in the yellow/orange ticket validator. Take the tram till stop #475 “Rossini” and exit. Walk in the direction of the tram’s path on Via Po and make your first left on Via Montebello. Continue on Via Montebello for 3 blocks. Il Rifugio is #21 and is on your left after you pass the tall monumental building on your right: “La Mole Antonelliana.”
From Porta Nuova train station, buy a bus ticket at any Tobacco store (white ‘T’ with black or blue background) or Newspaper stand. Find the bus stop for the #68 bus (black sign i with a yellow 68 inside that goes toward city center–‘San Maurizio” stop is located above the current stop) and signal (hold out your arm) for the 68 bus Get on and validate your ticket in the yellow/orange ticket validator. Take the bus till stop #768 “San Maurizio” and exit. Walk in the direction of the bus’s path on Via Rossini and make your first right. Continue one block and then make your next right onto Via Montebello. Il Rifugio is #21 and is immediately on your right.
